Reply to Yoli's Post

Facebook does not let me post long response, so I decided to post it here :)

To Yoli:

wow i like your post
but just to share some thoughts
first, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to bash on you or anything. I'm just sharing my understanding and maybe you can get something out of it or give me some feedback :)

"People got together without even getting to know the other person first, without making sure that the other person was really the one they want to have a relationship with"

relationship would always start with passion, but passion will die down eventually. Then the commitment and dedication come into play. A relationship is like two pointy rocks grinding each other. If the force is applied poorly, then one rock or both will break down. However, if the force is applied well, both rocks will be smooth. Relationship is built on commitment and compromise, and of course, passion. Since passion dies down, it eventually comes to the other two.

We might be able to know each other well, but we can never fully understand each other. Why? You might ask. It's because no two people are identical, so it's impossible to fully comprehend what each other thinks. Therefore, in some sense it's impossible to "make sure that the other person was really the one" (unless you are talking about some sci-fi stuff that can read people's mind, of course......) If you say: "oh, i have a feeling he's the one." Then how can you be sure that this feeling is correct but not some kind of impulse.

If you ask your parents if they still love each other like when they started dating, the answer is definitely no. They are together because they want to keep this family here; they want to make each other and their children happy. It's some sort of responsibility we are talking about. Is it sad? No! Of course not! It's also a form of love. Because of love, they are together, along with you and your other relatives.

Therefore, if "not sure he's the one" is the reason hindering you from having a relationship, don't let it be.

And if you're really seeking for some long-lasting relationship, don't wait, act. Passively waiting won't get you anything. Acting at least gives you more chance. :) I know you might have some fantasy about a guy coming in shiny armor and white horse, but the truth is that is super rare (I mean where can you even find a white horse XDDDDD). I'm pretty sure the guy is out there somewhere though, so all you have to do is to find him. Like someone once said, chance is only granted to people who seek for it. :)

For the drinking part, all i can say is that just keep it up :).
Actually i can say more about it hehe. Some people do find those who refuse to drink during a party annoying. Their thinking process is like "you know we're gonna drink, and you don't wanna drink, so what are you doing here. What a party pooper......"

So I like my friend's method. She does not drink, yet no one would hate her for not drinking. here's how she does it:
When people take shots, you take shots too, but with juice or soda. It's the action that actually makes people happy or think you're part of the crowd. When people are drinking beer, fake it! Again it's the action that counts.

Then again, if you think it's not necessary or you don't see the point faking it, it's totally fine, too. You get to choose what you wanna do :)

And yes! live your life to the fullest! You don't wanna look back in life and be like "ah....i wish i did blah blah blah....." Although I'm pretty sure we all do sometimes in our life. haha

You're still a second year. College life is still long. Enjoy your life and, most importantly, don't fail any class XDDDDDDDDDDDD
